The Be The Ladder Foundation is committed to supporting young individuals from low socio-economic backgrounds.

The foundation provides essential resources to help these children realise their potential, focusing on necessities such as school uniforms, educational equipment, and tuition support. 

Recognising the widening attainment gap as students transition from primary to secondary school, the foundation provides early interventions that help prevent educational disengagement and a diminished sense of ownership over their learning experience.

  • Children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK are, on average, 18 months behind their peers by the time they sit their GCSEs

  • A randomised control trial, which involved 105 primary schools and 1,290 pupils, examined the impact of Maths tuition on Year 6 pupils. Selected children received 12 hours of extra tuition and the trail showed they made three months more progress than their fellow pupils.

The Be The Ladder Programme

The Be The Ladder Programme, offers five key "Rungs" of support designed to uplift students identified as cognitively able but below age-related attainment levels:

  • Workshops that use artistic mediums to encourage creative thought and expression, to build self-esteem and confidence. 

  • Funding for extracurricular activities, such as school trips, that enrich students’ educational experiences. 

  • Tailored tutoring to help students reach age-appropriate attainment levels, initiated only after creative activities have enhanced their self-esteem.

  • Resources for school uniforms, educational equipment, and travel expenses related to alternative provisions.
